As 2022 comes to a close thegolfauction.com are conducting their final golf memorabilia auction of the year on 18 December, the highlights of which are a few pieces of Tiger Woods memorabilia.
First up is a famous 'Sunday Red' shirt signed by Tiger.
Tiger Woods striding the fairways in the final Sunday of a Major, wearing his famous red shirt, is a familiar sight for golf fans around the world.
Why red? Tiger once told the GolfMagic magazine that hus Mum thought it was his 'power colour' and:
"As you know, you should always listen to your mom"
The red Nike shirt has been signed on the chest by Tiger in a black sharpie. The provenance states the shirt was signed by Tiger and then sent to a grand slam sponsor as a thank you for their charitable contribution to the Tiger Woods Foundation.
The shirt is accompanied by a handwritten letter of authenticity from Stacy Stark stating "enclosed is your Sunday Red Nike shirt autogprahed by Tiger Woods, Thank you for being a Grand Slam Sponsor at the Tiger Woods Foundation dinner auction in Birmingham".
Stacy Stark is now the Associate Vice President of the Tiger Woods Foundation so the provenance doesn't get any better.
Bidding is currently at just $700, but expect the shirt to sell for a few thousand dollars.
Just last week a 'game worn' Sunday Red shirt signed by Tiger sold for $139,348.
That shirt had been worn by Tiger on the final Sunday of the 2010 Augusta Masters, a competition ijn which Tiger finished 4th!
The auction also features a very rare Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus signed St Andrew's flag from the 2005 Open, when Nicklaus announced his final game of competitive championship golf and Tiger won the tournament,
To mark Jack's last round and Tiger's victory both signed this 18th pin flag.
Bidding is currently at $967. (Ed - this could be a classic item in years to come)
Another Tiger item is a caddie's hat from the famous Par 3 competition at Augusta National, signed by Tiger, along with one of Tiger's Nike 4 golf balls.
The cap and ball have been consigned by a vendor who had been Tiger's stand in caddy that day, and is sold with photographic provenance of Tiger signing the cap. The starting bis for this lot is just $400.
If you're looking foir an image rich piece of Tiger Woods' golf memorabilia then consider a 2012 Golf Week Magazine signed by Tiger on the front cover.
The image shows Tiger lifitng his putter, wearing his Sunday Red shirt, and has been signed in black sharpie. The item also has the benefit of a James Spence Certificate of Authenticity, with bidding currently at just $400.
