The lot started at $25,000 before 26 bids pushed the price to a record $328,577, a total $393,300 including auction fees.

The 'red dot' Newport 2 putter had originally been manufactured by Scotty Cameron to be used as a back up for Tiger Woods in the event there was a problem with his first choice puitter, and is the same design as the putter Tiger used to win his first 14 Golf majors.

The putter had previously been sold directly by the Tiger Woods Foundation at a fundraiser 17 years ago when it sold for $29,000.

A second, unsigned red dot putter also appeared at the Golden Age auction, and although not signed by Tiger, it sold for $86,524.80, beating the $49,000 paid for a similar unsigned putter in 2018.

Both putters came with a certificate of authenticity from Scotty Cameron stating that the clubs were made as back ups for Tiger Woods

Scotty Cameron has confirmed that he made 1-2 back up putters for Tiger to practice with each year, and there are now believed to be only approximately 7 or so red dot back up putters known to exist.

The auction also included a 56 degree loft wedge, consigned by Tiger's one-time coach Hank Haney and used by Tiger which sold for $39,816.

The auction clearly established Tiger Woods as the GOAT of golf memorabilia with these prices all making the list of the 10 most expensive golf memorabilia of all time, elevating golf memorabilia prices to record highs.
