The original Phoenix Nights TV show VIP entrance sign has been sold at auction for £3,000 by Lancashire based auction house Warren & Wignall, against an estimate of £1,500.

The sign, measuring 37.5cm x 460cm and complete with the Smithills logo, appeared above the entrance to Peter Kay’s fictional The Phoenix Club in the award-winning TV show.

Despite the sign selling for double the estimate the winning bidder, Andrew Molyneux from Liverpool, stated it was 'worth every penny'.

The sign had originated from a storage container and was purchased by the auction vendor following non-payment of bills.

The container had also contained the infamous Sammy the Snake bouncy castle "It's inflatable filth, that's what it is!" which was subsequently sold on eBay for £7,000 in 2021, and can now be hired for £500 a day!
