The foam latex and vinyl suit has been mounted for display on a life size mannequin complete with a George Clooney head, with the signature Batman logo on the chest.

The cowl and cape are both marked "GC" for George Clooney and originally came from the Warner Bros. Archive

The mannequin measures 76" x 37" x 18".

Heritage’s Joe Maddalena describes the suit as ‘easily the most famous and infamous suit ever designed’.

The ‘infamous’ comment refers to the detailed plastic nipples that were much ridiculed at the time, and became known as the ‘bat-nipples’.

The suit was designed by the Batman franchise’s lead sculptor Jose Fernandez who later defended the design as ‘all about the anatomy’.

The most expensive piece of Batman memorabilia sold at auction is the 1955 Lincoln Futura that was transformed into the Batmobile for 1960's TV show.

It sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction in January 2013 for $4,620,000!
