The gloves were originally auctioned by Juliens in 2012 when they sold for $35,000, despite Holyfield filing a lawsuit to stop the auction of his boxing memorabilia following a bankruptcy hearing.

The gloves were worn during the infamous Bite Fight against Mike Tyson on June 28 1997 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, during which Tyson bit off the top of Holyfield's ear before spitting it out onto the boxing ring canvas.

Tyson was immediately disqualified from the fight and later fined $3,000,000 by the Nevada boxing authorities.

The gloves are marked 'Holyfield #1' in marker pen, and come with exceptional provenance from the collection of Evander Holyfield.

The gloves are up for auction at Lelands and have so far seen 6 bids taking the price to $12,763 with 10 days to go.

You can follow the bidding here.
