International Autographs Auctions are offering one of the finest known Marilyn Monroe signed photographs in their 14th March Autograph Letters, Manuscripts and Historical Documents sale.
The photograph is rightly described by IAA as:
"Marilyn at her most beautiful best – one of the most exceptional signed portraits to be found"
The 10 inch by 8 inch vintage black and white photograph shows a smiling Marilyn standing in a seductive three-quarter length pose wearign a black lace negligee - believed to be a promo photo from her film Let's Make Love.
Marilyn has signed in blue ink:
"To Madge, It's a pleasure to work with you, Marilyn Monroe"
"Madge" is believed to be the actress Madge Kennedy who had an uncredited role as a secretary in Let's Make Love.
In 2017 Heritage Auctions sold the identical photograph but signed to Don Sky, a background dancer, for $13,750.
"To Don, It's a pleasure to work with you. Marilyn Monroe."
Marilyn Monroe is considered one of the 'blue chips' of the memorabilia world and always sells well at auction.
In May 2017 Julien's Auctions in Los Angeles sold a white 36c size bra for £25,000 against an estimate of £7,000, whilst first editions of the famous Playboy magazine on which she first appeared on the cover have sold for up to £17,000 each.
However it's her famous dresses that top the charts with her Happy Birthday Mr President dress selling for $4.8m in 2016 and her Seven Year Itch subway dress, owned by Debbie Reynolds, making $5,658,000 in June 2011.
