The letter is believed to have been written by Jimi Henrix in 1968, and reads:

"Greetings Dennis, we are all having a blast out here, the water is beautiful and the sand is hot, haha

"You should be here, Mitch is sick though, he ate something on the plane, didn't agree, sleeping a lot, the tour is Heck-Tick! but groovy. Noel says hello and cheers!

See you soon, the best from Jimi Hendrix and the EXPERIENCE"

The letter is sold with a letter of provenance from the owner stating that he purchased the letter from the Alibaba record store in Liverpool in 'either 1978 or 1979'

It's believed that Hendrix wrote the letter when he visited the Spanish island of Majorca in July 1968 when he opened bar run by Mike Jeffrey and The Animal's bassist Chas Chandler, who were Hendrix's managers.

You can follow the auction at Gardiner Houlgate Auctions.

Genuine Jimi Hendrix memorabilia is exceptionally rare given his early death at the age of 27.

The Celebrity Memorabila Index lists an authentic Jimi Hendrix signed photo at £16,500; which is up 3.3% in value in the last 12 months.

In September 2015 RR Auction sold a Jimi Hendrix handwritten note for a whopping $32,500.

That 1967 note was written to support another band, The Cherokees:

“To the Cherokees, Good luck in your musical success—And the ‘Groovy’ music happening—Be kool, Jimi Hendrix.”
