The picture, which has also been signed in pencil by the then Prince Of Wales has an estimate of £400 - £600.

Unbeknown to many; King Charles is a talented artist and is believed to have sold over £5m of limited edition prints, which are sold at the shop at Highgrove House, his private estate in Gloucestershire.

Charles describes himself as an "enthusiastic amateur", however the record price for one of his original oil paintings stands at £10,500, achieved at Hansons Auctioneers.

"Painting transports me into another dimension which refreshes parts of the soul which other activities can’t reach.” - King Charles III

The Bonhams lithograph is particularly poignant as it features Balmoral Castle, the Scottish estate where Queen Elizabeth II passed away.

The lithograph is sold with a certificate of authenticity explaining how the Castle is considered an artistic challenge due to the complexity of it's design, including many towers and turrets.

The lithograph is printed on special paper made by the St Cuthbert's Mill in Somerset with the print run was limited to 100 copies plus 20 artist proofs, this being copy 18/100.

The printing of the image was supervised by the then Prince of Wales who has signed each numbered copy in pencil. On completion of printing the printing plates were cancelled so no more can be produced.

A similar lithograph was sold by Toovey's Auction house in 2017 for just £270, however since his accession to the throne prices of Charles' art and memorabilia have obviously increased with his lithographs now having asking prices of £5,000 - £7,950 on websites like 1stdibs.com

According to the Celebrity Memorabilia Index (October update) the price of a King Charles signature is up 20% in value in 2022.

Update: Sold for £5,738.
