It’s considered to be the World’s most famous baseball card: The 1952 Mickey Mantle Topps Card.
A recently graded Mint+ 9.5 card has been consigned to Heritage Auctions in Texas and is expected to sell for $10,000,000 when it appears as the star item in Heritage's 27th August Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction.
The card originates from the famous 1952 Topps Baseball Card find when over 5,500 cards were discovered in a Massachusetts attic where they had been hidden for 30 years.
The card had previously sold for $50,000 in 1991, a world record at the time,
In the 31 years since, the card’s owner has remained anonymous until now, revealing himself as Anthony Giordano, a New Jersey waste management entrepreneur.
Chris Ivy of Heritage Auctions expects the card to sell for $10m stating “That this Mantle rookie card remained in this condition for 70 years is a true miracle”
Another Mickey Mantle card, grade Mint 9 by the PSA was sold for $5.2m in 2021.
If the card does sell for $10m it will once again claim the (excuse the pun) mantle of being the most expensive trading card at auction eclipsing the $6,606,000 paid for the T206 Honus Wagner card at Robert Edward Auctions in August 2021

Update: The card sold for $12.6m
