Unique football memorabilia for sale at Graham Budd Auctions

Sports Memorabilia specialist Graham Budd has a bumper auction starting on 7th March, with over 1,000 lots including Boxing, Cricket, Football, Horse Racing, Motor Sport, Olympic Games, Rugby & Tennis memorabilia.

And there's three unique pieces of football memorabilia that have especially caught our eye.

First up is Lot 582; Irish Legend George Best's blue International cap for the games versus England, Scotland and Wales in the 1969-70 season.

The cap is described as being in excellent condition and is available with a £20,000 - £25,000 estimate.

Best's Northern Ireland lost all three matches, however Best did score against England at Wembley Stadium in front of 100,000 fans, in a 3-1 defeat.

Lot 634, which has an estimate of £5,000 - £7,000, is Best's 1967-1968 Umbro Manchester United jersey with the crew neck collar.

The provenance states the shirt is from the collection of Tommie Hamilton, a Scotsman who opened a gym in the cellar of his Manchester home, where he helped a number of Manchester United players with their fitness levels, including Best, Denis Law, and Nobbie Styles.

George Best worn Manchester United shirts are rare as Hen's Teeth. An unworn shirt, signed by Best, was sold for $5,078 by Julien's in Los Angeles in June 2022.

The third lot to look for is Lot 713.

This is a blue international cap inscribed 'Tour Of Canada' awarded to Sir Stanley Matthews for the FA's tour of Canada in 1950.

This is available with an estimate of £2,000 - £3,000.

Somewhat bizzarely Matthews was selected for the Tour of Canada despite England's appearance in the 1950 World Cup in Brazil clashing with the fixture.

Each of these three items can be considered unique so offer a rare chance for true football memorabilia connoisseurs.
